PADGETT POWELL

Padgett Powell is the author of six novels, including Edisto, a close-but-no-cigar finalist for the National Book Award, and three collections of stories, most recently Cries for Help, Various.  His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, The Paris Review, The New York Times Magazine, and in the anthologies Best American Short Stories and Best American Sports Writing. His most recent novel, You & I, won the UK's James Tait Black Memorial Prize.  He has received a Whiting Writers Award and the Prix de Rome Fellowship in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.  He lives in Gainesville, Florida, and teaches at MFA@FLA, the writing program of the University of Florida.
