Dave Smith has published 23 books, most recently, Hawks on Wires: Poems 2005-2010 (Louisiana State University Press, 2011) and Hunting Men: Reflections on a Life in American Poetry (essays, Louisiana State University Press, 2006). Following a decade as Boyd Professor of English and co-editor of The Southern Review at Louisiana State University, he retired from Johns Hopkins University in 2013 and will complete a three-year term as Visiting professor of English at the University of Mississippi in the Spring of 2016. Among his literary honors are fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Lyndhurst Foundation.
